Devious Journal Entry

Sat Apr 26, 2003, 11:00 PM
OK, got some new stuff I'm uploading. All of it will be from my trip to the Goleta area of Southern California, which about 15 miles west of Santa Barbara. The landmark of Goleta (and the reason I went there) is the University of California, Santa Barbara. I'll be attending UCSB in September, so I wanted to check it out. As you can see from the pics - though you have to be there to really feel it - it is an amazing area, and I can't wait to live there. I dragged along my SLR and digital camera, and my mother brought along her advantix (damn I hate those), and pics are gonna be from those various formats.
For film, I had 6 shots already taken on a B&W roll that I took a year ago (they were of an eclipse - through telescope and onto paper), so I didn't expect the film to pump out high quality shots... I took the remaining 30 shots on the beach next to the college, and though some were a little overexposed, there was no sign of bad film. The overexposure was inevitable with such clear, bright skies, and the reflection of the sand, not to mention the film was 400. I also took an entire 24 color roll of 200 film, pretty much along the same area. Took several digitals of the same area as film, as well as the sunset and clouds just outside of our motel in Goleta. Took just a few shots with the advantix from outside the marine biology building in UCSB (stupidly I never took my cameras when I took the tour of the college). Enjoy.

Have you ever had a dream, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire deviant life, that there's something wrong with the story. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. Your browser closes and you believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland. And, I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I offer only the truth, nothing more.

Take: The Red Pill
Take: The Blue Pill

Fella Point Right spyed, nobody has ever done this before.
Ninja Point Right I know. That's why it's going to work.

I think the piece did turn out a bit darker than I would have liked... I was actually attempting to get the detail on the flower, but the backlight prevented that (obviously). So I ended up with a little detail and a lot of vibrant colors - I guess sometimes we surprise ourselves. :) (Smile)

Thanks for the comment!
